Hill House Parlour

A curated intimate gathering space for artists, educators, storytellers, and meaningful celebrations  by the creators of Nocturne 🌿🕯️

More Than a Venue

In Spring 2026, we opened the doors to @hillhouseparlour ✨ a thoughtfully designed intimate gathering space. The Hill House Parlour is designed for small creative experiences, classes, games and appointment-based events. Tucked just down Houdini Way from Nocturne, Hill House Parlour is an intimate gathering space in the heart of Salem, Massachusetts. Inspired by rococo elegance, French bistro charm, and an enchanted woodland fantasy, the Parlour was created for workshops, readings, salons, lectures, classes, book discussions, photo sessions, and private gatherings.

Hill House Parlour was never intended to be simply another room for rent. It was created as an extension of Nocturne's mission to cultivate creativity, curiosity, and genuine human connection. Every gathering held here becomes part of the continuing story of this 219-year-old space.

HILL HOUSE PRINCIPLE

Private celebrations help sustain the space. Artists help define it.

Booking Options & Pricing

Community Artist Partnerships

Hill House Parlour was created with artists in mind. We intentionally offer reduced venue pricing for workshops, classes, readings, lectures, demonstrations, and other creative programming because investing in artists strengthens the entire Salem community.

The Community Artist Venue Contribution is whichever is greater: a $100 minimum or 15% of Adjusted Ticket Revenue. Adjusted Ticket Revenue is gross ticket revenue actually collected after documented third-party ticket-processing fees, credit-card processing fees, refunds, and chargebacks.

Private Gatherings

Private celebrations, showers, birthdays, photo sessions, invitation-only events, and other non-public gatherings are $250 Monday through Thursday or $350 Friday through Sunday for up to four consecutive hours. Additional approved time before 9:00 PM is $75 per hour. Any approved time after 9:00 PM is $150 per hour.

Private rentals directly support the continued operation of Hill House Parlour and allow us to intentionally offer reduced pricing for Salem's creative community.

Promotional Partnerships

Nocturne has cultivated one of New England's most engaged communities of readers, artists, collectors, travelers, and lovers of beautiful things. For hosts who would like additional support, optional promotional partnerships may include social media, Eventbrite management, email marketing, graphic design, copywriting, ticket administration, or collaborative event production.

Community Promotion begins at $125. Full Promotional Campaigns begin at $250. Creative collaborations and co-produced events are quoted individually according to scope.

REPRESENTING THE NOCTURNE BRAND

An event may be described as presented by, hosted by, in collaboration with, or in partnership with Nocturne or Hill House Parlour only when that relationship has been approved in writing.

Why Our Pricing Is Different

We believe there is a meaningful difference between renting a beautiful room for a private celebration and creating an experience that enriches Salem's creative community.

For that reason, Hill House Parlour offers intentionally reduced pricing for qualifying artists, educators, authors, historians, nonprofit organizations, and community-centered programming. Private rentals help us care for the room while making it more accessible to the creators who inspire it.

Caring for the Parlour

The room is part of a 219-year-old building, and every Host becomes its temporary steward. Booking time must include setup and cleanup. Hosts are responsible for attendees, ticketing, refunds, supplies, staffing, permits, and event operations unless another arrangement is approved in writing.

No glitter, confetti, loose petals, smoke effects, or difficult-to-clean materials

No open flames, smoking, vaping, incense, or burning materials

No nails, screws, staples, adhesive hooks, or tape on walls, decor, or furniture

No excessive noise or disruptive amplified sound

No alcohol without advance approval and every required license, permit, and insurance policy

No animals except service animals, unless approved in writing

No storage before or after the event unless separately arranged
