More Than a Venue

In Spring 2026, we opened the doors to @hillhouseparlour ✨, a thoughtfully designed, intimate gathering space tucked just down Houdini Way from Nocturne in the heart of Salem, Massachusetts.

Inspired by rococo elegance, French bistro charm, and an enchanted woodland fantasy, Hill House Parlour was created as a place for small, creative experiences and meaningful gatherings.

As the Parlour has grown, so has our understanding of what we want this little space to be.

Hill House Parlour is Nocturne’s private gathering and collaboration space, created to bring artists, authors, makers, and our community together in a more intimate setting. Rather than operating as a traditional rental venue, the Parlour is an extension of Nocturne and a home for the experiences, people, and ideas we’re excited to bring into our world.

The space is used for Nocturne programming and select collaborations, including artist workshops, readings, author events, creative classes, salons, lectures, book discussions, photo sessions, appointment-based experiences, games, and other special gatherings.

About the Space

Hill House Parlour is intentionally small, warm, and atmospheric.

The space is best suited for intimate experiences of approximately 8–10 guests plus a host or instructor. It includes 4–5 small tables and seating for approximately 10, with a flexible layout that can be rearranged depending on the event.

Workshops and gatherings that encourage conversation, creativity, storytelling, and connection are especially at home here.

Collaborate With Us

Hill House Parlour is not operated as a traditional public rental or event venue. Instead, we use the space for Nocturne programming and select collaborations with artists, makers, authors, educators, photographers, and other creatives whose work and ideas feel like a natural fit for our community.

Community Use Guidelines

These guidelines help keep the space accessible, affordable, and sustainable for everyone in our creative community.

Appointment-Based Use Only

Hill House Parlour operates strictly as an appointment-based event space.

All gatherings must have:

• A scheduled start and end time
• Pre-registered attendees
• A defined host or instructor

Drop-in events, open retail sales, or walk-in style events are not permitted.

Capacity

The space is designed for small, intimate gatherings.

Maximum capacity:

8-10 guests + 1 to 2 hosts

Tables may be rearranged to suit your event but must be returned to its original layout at the end of your booking.

clean, organized and ready for the next guest! 

A Few Parlour Rules

To protect the space and all of the strange and beautiful things inside it, open flames are not permitted. Table coverings are required for workshops involving paint, wax, glue, or other potentially messy materials.
