The scorpion is a powerful symbol, hailed by the Ancient Egyptians as an emblem of protection. It was used to represent the goddess Serqet, she who protects the body of the dead, and accompanies them in their journey to the afterlife. In Tibet, the scorpion was often worn as an amulet, guarding the wearer against evil spirits.
