Strawberry Burial by Olivia Faust. This charming and eerie 8x8 combines gothic and botanical elements in a visually striking way. Centered around a gray tombstone that reads “AT REST,” the artwork is framed by strawberry vines, complete with red fruit, spiderwebs, and white blossoms. The vines are tied with red bows, adding a whimsical yet somber touch. Above it all hovers a full moon, illuminating the dark, star-speckled background.
The juxtaposition of ripened strawberries—symbols of sweetness and summer—with the tombstone and webs, evokes themes of beauty, decay, and the bittersweet nature of life and death. It’s a perfect piece for lovers of gothic art with a soft, romantic edge—something that would be right at home in Nocturne.

Olivia Faust is a Canadian artist and maker of enchanted curiosities, known for her whimsical and ghostly aesthetic. A graduate of Sheridan College with a Bachelor of Illustration, Olivia draws creative inspiration from ghosts, glamour, cakes, and kitsch—elements that shimmer through her hauntingly nostalgic work.
Working across a variety of mediums including ink, clay, and felting wool, Olivia’s true passion lies in the world of gouache. Her pieces are distinguished by unique retro-inspired color palettes that evoke both vintage charm and gentle eeriness. Whether she’s painting, sculpting, or conjuring up her next strange and unusual idea, Olivia’s creations are imbued with an undeniable sense of magic.
She works from her vintage 1885 storybook home, Rosebud Cottage, where the scent of tea wafts through the air and her Siamese cat, Henri, often snoozes in her lap. When she’s not in the studio, Olivia can be found hunting for oddities in antique shops, ghost-watching in graveyards, or perfecting vintage hairstyles.
